"The main thing to know about this place is that it's an actual castle from the 15th or 16th century. You are literally sleeping in a place once owned by the war minister of Louis XIV. You will wander the sprawling grounds, taking photos, unable to quite believe where you are. I went for a long walk/run with two of the dogs. Just like hundreds of years ago. The hostess made us a fine dinner (for a price) when we arrived and didn't have the time or energy to go find a restaurant. She regaled us with stories about the chateau."

"People who aren't dog lovers might have an issue with the three very friendly dogs running around. The bathroom isn't exactly luxurious: The shower consists of a clawfoot tub equipped with a hand-held spray wand. To get to our bedroom we had to go up two flights on a spiral stone staircase. To me, though, those are features, not bugs. Ask the proprietor for the best address to put into your GPS because if you use the one on the website you'll end up at a dead-end a couple of miles away."

"J’ai été accueilli chaleureusement comme un ami de la famille par Alain et Isabelle avec qui j’ai partagé le dîner. C’était une vraie expérience immersive dans leur vie du quotidien ! Leur gentillesse et générosité m’a fait oublié que j’étais dans une maison d’hôtes. J’ai hâte de repasser en Mayenne pour y retourner ! Une de mes meilleures expériences touristiques depuis longtemps, merci infiniment !"
