"Apartamenty Carskie is like stepping through a portal to another time. We stayed inside one of the train carriages that had been transformed into a superb, luxury sleeper with all the splendour of the era of Tsar Nicholas II. The care and finesse that has been applied to its design and furnishings is extraordinary - every detail has been thoughtfully executed. The surrounds are also exquisite, through the carriage windows you take in the magnificent trees of the forest and local meadows - it truly is an unforgettable experience and we are so grateful for the opportunity."

"Do keep in mind that this spectacular property is located a 40-minute walk away from the town centre and there are no shops of any kind nearby. The majority of guests who stay are Polish and have travelled using their own car, therefore, the hotel isn't equipped to arrange taxis or other modes of transport for you. This is probably not going to be a concern if you are fluent in the Polish language, however, if your Polish is patchy and you are planning to stay for longer than a night (which we definitely recommend as it really is quite a unique and spectacular experience) and you are using public transport, be sure to bring lots of snacks, coffee, drinks and fresh fruit ahead of arrival. There is a small fridge inside the room, and saucers and cups which you can use. There is also no dedicated reception area or hotel staff (all the activity revolves around the restaurant) so the check-in process upon arrival is a little unclear."

"Very good location, excellent breakfast, one particularly helpful waiter (Piotr) whose English was very good and thus helpful to us, advice about travel, taxis, highlights of the surrounding area. Unique location with the old trains etc, very peaceful, wonderful birdsong and lovely nature all around. The restoration of the station, restaurant etc is excellently done, very redolent of something like the era of the Tsars, if you like that sort of thing. The Bialowieza forest is amazing and fascinating and on the doorstep; the town itself has many delights, some great walks and bikes can be hired for longer excursions."

"We stayed in the lower apartment of the Water Tower. Basically there's a kind of antechamber downstairs with a very small table, and not much room to do anything, plus the bathroom which is fine except the drain in the shower needs unblocking - water quickly spreads across the entire floor beyond the shower. Upstairs is the bedroom which is beautiful and ample but not very handy to go down the steep stairs to the bathroom in the night. Also the stairs to the upper apartment of the tower are metal and go right round the outside of the building so when the occupiers are going up or down it's quite noisy."

"I don't know of any other place where every detail is so refined. A brilliant atmosphere created by the service and the visionary boss. The food is a real poetry of flavours! Products of the highest quality. Great Polish wines. But the most wonderful thing are the interiors and their design. Wonderfully comfortable beds! Peace and quiet. Fairytale surroundings! We even managed to see a bison in the clearing next door. Simply phenomenal! This is the second time we've been here, and we'll be coming back in the Spring! There is no more original place in Europe! Wonderful!!!"

"OMG an amazing location in Bialowieze Forest close to the Belarusian border. Stayed in one of the railway carriages, such a novel and incredible experience. Carriage was comfy, roomy and very very special. Restaurant in the adjacent old stations building was perfect. Worth the long drive to get there."
