"Well located to access Laginha beach, 10min walk from centre. The staff are very friendly and approachable. The room was clean and tidy. The shared balcony is great for evenings, sheltered from the wind and with a great sunset view. Breakfast in the morning includes fresh fruit juice, coffee, bread, jam, homemade yogurt and fruit."

"Good location, close to the city center, cafes, beach. Very friendly staff, speaking English, I contacted them with questions about logistics around the island - they helped me a lot :). Simple small breakfast, prepared upon your arrival, as fresh as possible, slightly different the next morning and that's good. The room has a hairdryer, enough soap and shower gel - which is not always the case in Cape Verde. There is a refrigerator, they also gave an iron on request."

"The bed was a little hard for me. I would like to have the possibility of an earlier breakfast (it starts at 8:00 here)."

"The best place to stay in Maio - Matia and Mirko are excellent hosts, always helpful and very communicative and truly wanting to make sure you have a lovely stay! They went above and beyond to ensure we made it back in time for our flight and for that we are truly thankful! The facilities are the best in Maio, room is cozy, bed is comfortable, everything is very clean and AC works well. There's a good breakfast available and the restaurant is also very good. In addition to this, there are a lot of activities you can book directly and we had a great time with our rented car visiting Ilha do Maio. All in all, despite some issues with travel arrangements, we had a lovely experience in Maio and would highly recommend visiting and staying in Pensão Big Maio!"

"The apartment and the facilities were excellent. The owners had thought of everything. The location was a gentle ten minute stroll into the town. Henning informed us of where to go for any items we required including a bakery, supermarket and fruit market- as well has supplied us with taxi numbers and tour guides . The kitchen was fully stocked with everything. For a self catering apartment it was fantastic. It was also exceptionally clean. The owners were really responsive to all our questions and when we were there Henning was also on hand for anything we needed to know. They even put up Christmas decorations for us. Wonderful hosts."
