"What a unique experience! I had a few days to spend in Amsterdam, with no particular agenda. Staying on a boat was a quirky way of doing it. I had my own small room, with a private toilet & shower. Great breakfast too"

"We absolutely loved staying on HMS Holland — it felt so iconic and unique! The location couldn’t have been better as it was right next to the NEMO Science Museum, which made it easy to find and perfectly placed for exploring the city. We couldn’t feel the boat move at all during our stay! The beds were really comfy and we slept well. The bedrooms are compact, but that’s to be expected on a boat. The bathrooms are extremely tiny, but again, part of the charm. The rooms were really warm - even in the snow! We loved spending time in the shared space playing cards — it was such a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. In the summer, I imagine it would be absolutely lovely sitting out on the deck and enjoying the views. Breakfast was fabulous — a real highlight each morning — and everything was spotless throughout. Check-in and check-out were both smooth and easy, which made the whole experience even better. Such a memorable and fun place to stay — we’d definitely recommend it!"

"A couple of small downsides (but we’re being picky because we really did love it!): When we arrived, there weren’t any towels in our room. When we asked about them, the owner seemed a little rushed and came across slightly abrupt — though he was very busy preparing breakfast at the time. It was just the first time we’d seen him, and after a long day of travelling the day before we were keen to shower, especially as we hadn’t seen him the day before. That said, we did then get the towels. We also messaged a few times via Booking.com and didn’t always receive very prompt replies. And as mentioned before — the bathroom really is very small. Perfectly usable, but definitely compact! Honestly though, these are minor points. Overall we absolutely loved the experience and would still happily recommend it — the uniqueness and location more than made up for the little things."

"The location especially oosterdok 3 was very convenient for Amsterdam central station and the city centre. I anticipated that the cabins would be small but it was perfectly comfortable for me - I was alone. Breakfast was a substantial continental including cereals, toast and boiled eggs. A microwave was available if required. Coffee was available throughout the day and evening, just help yourself. I stayed in the boat while it was moved during my stay - it was an exhilarating experience to see how such a large vessel navigated the canals. I was surprised at the different nationalities aboard, French, Spanish and a family from Chile. All spoke good English and were happy to engage in conversation. George, the host, was helpful and informative. I believe that for the price it was good value. I did not expect hotel quality but it was clean, the breakfast was good and I slept well in my bunk. I enjoyed my stay and would book again."
